It’s February now and Sarah still refuses to talk to me. I haven’t tried reaching out through Susan because there’s no point. Susan has made a point of not helping me when it comes to Sarah.

I guess to her I left of my own will and I should face the consequences of my choices. It’s like Susan enjoys seeing me struggle to connect with Sarah and she’d use every opportunity to make it harder for me, so no need to give her ammunition.

So, for now, I bury myself in work. I arrive first in the morning and leave last. I even sleep on the couch in my office from time to time. I just hate going back to my house now that Claire is gone. It feels too big and empty and silent, and I can’t stand it.

I feel like I’ve lost everything except work, so that’s what I focus on while I try to find a solution to my personal problems.

I’ve also been traveling to different states to watch female hockey players in different universities and I’ve almost recruited enough players for two whole teams now. The women I meet are all passionate about hockey and jump at the chance to showcase their talents.

They are good, some of them are great, but none are as great as Claire. She just has a natural talent when she’s on the ice. I try not to think about her too much as I travel, but all those young women remind me of her. There’s always something of her when they smile or when they score on the ice or when they talk about hockey passionately.
